About Us

The Research Center (RC) has broad responsibilities for the overall research mission of Cyprus College. The Center takes a variety of steps designed to stimulate grant activity; to improve the environment in which research is conducted; and to develop the resources, both human and technical, available for increased research productivity. To accomplish its mission, the Research Center disseminates information about research and research opportunities and on the whole provides support to the research community of the College. More specifically the functions of RC are:

  • To enhance/increase the size, range, extent and external profile of Cyprus College's research and consultancy activity from all sources, and to serve as the principal liaison between Cyprus College and its sponsors (public and private).
  • To establish linkages/networks with industry, government and non-government research organizations, colleges and universities, both in Cyprus and the EU (and beyond), with strong research capability for collaborative research on areas of common concern. To this end, to develop a strong selective research base with academic and institutional research centers in Cyprus and abroad.
  • To gather in a systematic way and disseminate to the research community of Cyprus College information on availability, calls for and relevant details pertaining to research grants, research projects and research funding in Cyprus, in the EU and outside the EU.
  • To maintain an up to date register of funding opportunities, sources and contacts (for institutional and government-sponsored programs from both Cyprus and the EU). Such information to be disseminated through, for example, memos, specially-designed electronic Funding Alert emails, monthly grant deadline listing in the College's Research web site, etc.
  • To make available the expertise of the researchers of the College to public and private agencies by promoting and supporting funded research, consultancy services or collaborative research projects.
  • To work closely with the Research Committee, the Academic Deans, the Dean of Academic Affairs and the Management of the College to develop and implement research policies and procedures.
  • To develop and maintain monitoring and evaluation systems for research and consultancy activities. To maintain non-financial records, including proposal and award manuals and documents.
  • To provide pre-submission review of grant proposals, making sure that all institutional issues and sponsor guidelines have been addressed.
  • To develop and implement training workshops to faculty and researchers (including graduate research students) on topics such as funding searches, identifying funding sources, proposal writing and development, communicating effectively with government agencies, and electronic research administration
  • To market, promote and announce Cyprus College's research capabilities, activities and successes, and to create an effective mechanism/system for disseminating research outputs to the different publics.
